Your ability to take your rental car across the Cook Strait ferry depends on the car operator. Some operators allow you to take the same vehicle, which simplifies your rental experience and may reduce the daily rate. In this case, your consultant will inform you of any additional ferry fees that enable you to take your car on the ferry. Some operators maintain separate North and South Island fleets. If this applies, you'll drop off your car at the ferry terminal and pick up a new one on the other side. Your itinerary will reflect this arrangement, with your ferry crossing details recorded internally to ensure your new vehicle is ready. While you'll sign a new rental agreement upon collecting the second vehicle, no additional credit card bond will be required. If you have any questions, please contact your sales consultant.
